Somerset Council announced today it intends to keep the waiting rooms open at Yeovil Bus Station.

After fears around closure of the waiting rooms due to costs, the Council has struck a deal with First and Somerset Bus Partnership to keep it open until alternative funding can be found.

Adam Dance, Parliamentary Candidate for Yeovil, said:

"This is great news. We can't have a situation like in Taunton where there is no indoor waiting room at the town's main bus station.

Earlier this week, I met with First, Somerset Bus Partnership and council officers to find a solution. I am delighted that through this partnership work, an agreement has been struck for the waiting rooms to remain open for the next few months.

"I will continue working closely with all those involved to find a long-term solution to keep them open.

"I am also working with the Council to find a way to bring public toilets back to the location."
