Adam Dance MP welcomes Honeywell defence investment as Yeovil's aerospace sector goes from strength to strength
Yeovil MP Adam Dance has welcomed a major new defence investment involving Honeywell that will support highly skilled jobs in Yeovil while helping provide critical equipment to Ukraine. The announcement highlights the important role British manufacturing is playing in supporting Ukraine's defence, while securing jobs and investment here in the UK.
The announcement marks the latest boost for Yeovil's world leading aerospace and defence sector and follows a series of significant investments secured for the town in recent months.
Earlier this year, Leonardo secured a major contract supporting around 3,000 jobs, while a separate Government defence investment will support around 50 jobs at Boeing Defence UK's Yeovil site. Together with this latest investment involving Honeywell, these announcements further reinforce Yeovil's position as one of the UK's most important hubs for aerospace, defence and advanced manufacturing.
The latest investment follows a cross-party meeting with Luke Pollard MP, Minister for Defence Readiness and Industry, on 28 May 2026, where Adam raised the importance of supporting defence jobs and manufacturing in Yeovil.
Adam Dance MP said:
"This is another vote of confidence in Yeovil and the highly skilled workforce that makes our town such an important part of the UK's defence industry.
“Since being elected, I have worked hard to champion Yeovil's aerospace and defence sector, raising its importance with ministers and making the case for continued investment in local jobs, skills and manufacturing. Honeywell is a key employer locally and this announcement is fantastic news for both the company and the wider Yeovil economy.
“The recent Leonardo contract, the Boeing investment and this latest announcement involving Honeywell show the growing confidence in Yeovil's defence sector and further cement our reputation as a nationally significant aerospace and defence hub.
“These investments are not just good news for businesses. They support local families, strengthen our economy and create opportunities for the next generation through apprenticeships, training and skilled employment. I will continue working with “Government, industry leaders and local partners to make sure Yeovil remains at the forefront of defence manufacturing and innovation."
Yeovil's defence and aerospace sector supports thousands of jobs across Somerset and the wider South West, with local firms playing a key role in helicopter manufacturing, engineering, advanced technology and defence supply chains.
