Adam Dance MP visits new hearing practice in Crewkerne

A new hearing care practice in Crewkerne was pleased to welcome local MP Adam Dance recently as part of a visit to learn more about hearing healthcare services available within the community.

During the visit, Mr Dance met with the team at South West Hearing Care, an independent hearing healthcare provider which recently opened its Crewkerne clinic to support people with hearing loss, ear health concerns and hearing aid care across the local area.

Owner and Lead Audiologist Simon Swindells spoke with the MP about the importance of accessible hearing care, particularly within rural communities, and the growing awareness around the impact untreated hearing loss can have on communication, confidence and social isolation.

Mr Dance was also given an ear health check by Audiologist Victoria Paul and had the opportunity to see some of the technology and equipment used within the clinic.

Mr Dance also shared his own understanding of hearing loss through experiences within his family, leading to positive conversations around the importance of early intervention and long-term hearing support.

Simon Swindells said:

“It was a pleasure to welcome Adam to our Crewkerne clinic and show him more about the work we do to support people with hearing loss across the local community.

“Hearing loss affects far more people than many realise, so it was encouraging to speak with someone who already had an understanding of the impact it can have on individuals and families.

“As an independent local business, we are passionate about providing professional, accessible hearing care alongside long-term support for our patients, so it was fantastic to see a local MP taking an interest in both community healthcare and local businesses.”

Mr Dance, who has been MP for Yeovil since 2024 said:

"It was a pleasure to visit South West Hearing Care and learn more about the services they are providing for local people.

“Hearing loss can have a significant impact on people's quality of life, so it is fantastic to see specialist support available closer to home for residents in Crewkerne and the surrounding area.

“Improving access to healthcare services in our rural communities is incredibly important, and I wish the team every success as they continue to support local patients."

South West Hearing Care provides independent hearing healthcare services across Somerset and the surrounding area, including hearing assessments, hearing aids, earwax removal and ongoing aftercare support.
