57% Concerned About Food Prices Rising Due to Family Farm Tax
New research reveals that 57% of people in the South West believe food prices will increase because of the Family Farm Tax announced in the Budget.
This tax isn’t just a blow to farming communities—it could also drive up costs for families and pensioners who are already struggling with the rising cost of living. Adam Dance MP is calling on the government to scrap the tax and take action to support rural communities.
Adam said:
“I’ll fight this damaging tax hike every step of the way to make sure the voices of Yeovil and South Somerset are heard. The impact isn’t limited to farms—higher food prices will hit families and pensioners across the region hard.
“For years, rural communities have been neglected. This Budget shows the new government still doesn’t grasp how vital these communities are to food security, protecting our natural environment, and the British economy.
“The government must axe this tax now. If not, the consequences for communities already struggling to make ends meet could be devastating.”
The Liberal Democrats are also pushing for an extra £1 billion investment in farming and a commitment to expand free school meals for all children in poverty.
