“I believe that if anything positive is to come of the pandemic years it should be a renewed focus on safe indoor air. Currently, however, there is no legal right to safe indoor air, and I believe it’s time to legislate for it - just like clean drinking water and safe food is protected in law.”
Cllr Oliver Patrick, Coker Division, Somerset County Council (2023)
With the Liberal Democrat Spring Conference in York starting on 17th March, this month sees the first fully in-person Liberal Democrats conference since 2019!
One of our Yeovil Constituency members, Somerset County Councillor Oliver Patrick, has drafted an emergency policy motion calling for a right to safe air. You can find the motion text here.
Cllr Patrick said, “I believe that if anything positive is to come of the pandemic years it should be a renewed focus on safe indoor air. Currently, however, there is no legal right to safe indoor air, and I believe it’s time to legislate for it - just like clean drinking water and safe food is protected in law.”
So far Oliver has secured 45 signatures from Lib Dem members, including those of Baroness Sal Brinton (former Lib Dem Lords Spokesperson for Health & Social Care) and Leader of the Scottish Lib Dems Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP.
