Liberal Democrats Respond to Announcement UKIP will not contest Yeovil

The decision by UKIP not to stand a candidate for the General Election in Yeovil is hardly surprising given Conservative MP Marcus Fysh’s policies are indistinguishable from UKIP’s.

Lord Paddy Ashdown, Chairman of Yeovil Liberal Democrats said:

“My heart goes out to those decent moderate conservatives who are part of the great Tory internationalist tradition who will feel abandoned.”

“We will fight hard to elect a hardworking and effective Liberal Democrat MP to champion the needs of the people of Yeovil Constituency: a secure future for our NHS, schools and for the helicopter manufacturing industry, which is so vital to our community.”
