Yeovil Constituency

Yeovil constituency, aside from the main town for which it is named, takes in Chard, Crewkerne and Ilminster as well as many other picturesque villages.

Yeovil itself is situated at the Southern boundary of Somerset, 130 miles from London, 40 miles south of Bristol and 30 miles from Taunton. It is not only a thriving market town, but also a growing industrial and commercial town with light industry and hi-tech engineering for aerospace production. Westland Helicopters is the largest employer, with a workforce of about 5,000.  The population of Yeovil is around 40,000.
