David Laws, the Lib Dem MP for Yeovil constituency, has today paid his respects to the Queen Mother with members of the Yeovil Branch of the Royal British Legion. The group passed through Westminster Hall to witness the Lying in State of the Queen Mother's coffin.

David Laws MP said:

“ I was pleased to be able to pay my respects to the Queen Mother with members of the Royal British Legion. I know that many members of the Legion have particularly strong ties with the Queen Mother and I wanted to give this opportunity to local members of the British Legion to pay their own tribute.

“ The local members of the Royal British Legion and I attended the Lying in State in Westminster Hall with hundreds of other well-wishers to honour and thank the Queen Mother for lighting up so many lives.”

Mrs. Salisbury of the Royal British Legion said:

“ It was a great privilege to take part in this historical event and to be able to pay our respects. I am honoured to represent other members of the Legion who were not able to attend.”
