Laws comments on rnas yeovilton announcement

Local Lib Dem MP David Laws has today received a letter from the Minister for Armed Forces confirming that the removal of Sea Harriers at RNAS Yeovilton is to be delayed from 2003 to 2004-06.

David Laws said:

“I very much regret the uncertainly that the Government has created about the future of Yeovilton, with frequent changes of plan over the future of the Yeovilton Sea Harriers and the UK helicopter forces.

“All of this uncertainty must have been very unsettling for the families involved, and I shall be pressing the Ministry of Defense to make the clearest possible statement about the future role of RNAS Yeovilton, so as to avoid the quite unnecessary uncertainty and speculation.”
