David Laws, MP for Yeovil Constituency, has called for postal services in Stoke Sub Hamdon to be restored as soon as possible following an announcement by Post Office Ltd. that it would have to temporarily close its branch in the village from 21st June 2010.

The postal branch in Stoke Sub Hamdon has recently been operated by a temporary agent following the resignation of the previous subpostmaster. Unfortunately, the agent is no longer able to provide a service at their premises which has forced Post Office Ltd to close the branch and seek an alternative agent.

David Laws MP said:

“I am very concerned to learn that the Post Office branch in Stoke Sub Hamdon will shortly close.

It is unacceptable that people in a large village such as Stoke Sub Hamdon should not have any postal services available for local residents.

I urge Post Office Ltd to secure another location in Stoke Sub Hamdon for postal facilities as quickly as possible, and I shall do all I can to ensure that this happens.”
