LOCAL RESIDENTS BACK LAWS’ POLICE CUTS CAMPAIGN
David Laws, MP for Yeovil Constituency, has today welcomed news that 1,050 people have joined the Facebook group, Save Our Somerset PCSOs.
The group was set-up in opposition to the planned £129,000 cuts by the Tory run Somerset County Council. The budgetary cut would mean front line policing services being cut and would mean a fall in the number of Police Community Support Officers across the Somerset area.
David Laws MP said:
“Community Police are highly valued across our area. The work they do is crucial and the cuts proposed by the Tories would undermine front line policing in Somerset.
“Given that over a thousand people have voiced their concerns over the cuts, the Tories should re-think their proposed cuts, which would endanger the police presence which is so highly valued by most people.”
