CONSERVATIVE POLICE CUTS PUT COMMUNITIES IN DANGER - LAWS
David Laws, MP for Yeovil Constituency, has slammed Somerset County Council Conservatives for plans to cut £129,000 from the council’s budget for Police Community Support Officers.
These cuts would represent a quarter of the funding which the council provides for the officers, and enough money for more than four PCSOs.
David Laws said,
“Cutting frontline officers would be very foolish at a time when there is huge public concern about crime and antisocial behaviour.
“Police Community Support Officers have played an important role in reducing crime and making people feel safer in many local communities.
“The Conservatives claim to be the party of law and order, but these cuts would hinder the police and help those who break the law.”
