LAWS TABLES COMMONS MOTION SUPPORTING MARINE FUNDRAISING BID
David Laws, MP for Yeovil Constituency, has today (1 July) tabled a House of Commons motion in support of a team of Royal Marines from RNAS Yeovilton who are carrying a 300lb Sea King helicopter rotor blade in the Bristol half marathon to raise money for charity.
The 10 Marine Aircrew, from 845, 846 and 848 Naval Air Squadrons, will carry the 31 foot long blade along the length of the 13.1 mile course in the 6 September race.
They are aiming to raise £13000 for ‘Help for Heroes’, a charity established in 2007 to provide better care and support for wounded British servicemen and women.
David Laws MP said:
“I am very happy to support the fantastic fundraising effort being made by these 10 Marines from Yeovilton. I wish Colour Sergeant Jim Coulter and the rest of the team the very best of luck for their training and the run.
“Help for Heroes is a very deserving cause, and the money raised will help look after men and women injured while serving their country.
“I would encourage anyone who can to visit their website and support their efforts.”
ENDS.
