Laws welcomes fall in accidents on ilminster bypass
David Laws, MP for Yeovil Constituency has welcomed the fall in the number of accidents on the Ilminster Bypass since the improvements to the route were carried out in 2003.
Figures obtained by Mr Laws in answer to a parliamentary question from the Department of Transport, show that the total number of accidents between the years 2003-2006 (14), after the improvements were carried out, was significantly lower than between 2000-2003 (22) before they took place. However, Mr Laws is pressing for further action to cut the number of casualties on the road.
David Laws says:
“It is good to see that the improvements in 2003 on the Ilminster Bypass seem to have had a positive effect on reducing the number of accidents.
“However I believe that we need to go on making this road safer, as there were still 24 casualties over the last three and a half years. I will continue to do all that I can to ensure that South Somerset’s roads are made safer.”
