Laws praises yeovil town fc for historic victory
David Laws, MP for Yeovil Constituency, has congratulated Yeovil Town FC after the 5-2 victory which puts them through to the play-off finals on Sunday:
“My congratulations to Russell Slade and to all of the team on this historic victory, which sets Yeovil Town up for the biggest game in their history.
“After losing 2-0 at home, it looked a very tall order to beat Nottingham Forest away in front of 25,000 local supporters. When I saw the result on Friday night, I couldn’t believe it and thought that it must be a mistake!
“To beat a team like Nottingham Forest by 5-2 away from home is a spectacular achievement, which will not be forgotten by those who travelled to the game or who saw it on TV.
“I am looking forward to the trip to Wembley for the play-off finals on Sunday, and I know that there will be thousands of local people there to back our team. This will be the biggest game in Yeovil’s history, and the team deserves as much support as we can give them. I suspect that Yeovil will be a rather quiet place on Sunday, with a mass exit to London!
“Good luck to Russell and the whole team. Their success is really putting Yeovil on the map, and we are all very proud of them”.
