David Laws, MP for Yeovil constituency, will this Friday personally welcome Lord Drayson, the Procurement Minister, to AgustaWestland. It will be the Minister’s first visit to the company since his appointment to the role last May.

Mr. Laws has previously met the Minister and the Secretary of State, John Reid, during 2005.

David Laws MP said:

‘I am delighted that Lord Drayson is visiting AgustaWestland this week, as it will provide us with the opportunity to demonstrate to him the high-quality products manufactured in Yeovil and give him some indication of how the company operates a successful export market strategy.

‘I will be meeting the Minister during his visit, which will provide me with the opportunity to emphasise the importance of several MoD contracts to the local area, including the long-awaited Future Lynx project.

‘It is vital that an early decision is made very shortly on this key contract, which has been a long time coming, and I will press the Minister to make an early and positive announcement. This is an extremely important issue for the Yeovil area, and I will be reminding the Minister of this on Friday.’
