Mp’s call leads to speed restriction on danger road
A dangerous stretch of road from Yeovil to Mudford is to have a lower speed restriction following action from local MP, David Laws, County Councillor Sam Crabb and pressure from Mudford Parish Council.
The A359 between Mudford and Yeovil has been the site of a number of serious accidents in recent years.
Now the County Council have agreed in principal to drop the speed limit from 60mph to 40 mph, erect new warning signs and provide a new anti-skid surface for the road.
“I’m pleased the County Council are taking this action,” reported David Laws. “It’s high time something was done to address the A359 which has become an accident blackspot.”
“Slowing traffic down before cars enter Mudford should also provide a little extra releif for people in the village who have to contend with a large amount of speeding traffic through the village.”
“It was interesting to listen to the concerns of residents in Mudford,” continued David. “This is clearly a situation we will have to monitor closely in the future.”
