Local MP welcomes 2 star rating for yeovil hospital
David Laws, the Lib Dem MP for Yeovil constituency, has today welcomed the news that Yeovil District Hospital in East Somerset NHS Trust has been given a two star rating in today’s NHS Performance Indicators 2002. The West Country Ambulance Service has also been given a two star rating. Yeovil District Hospital received 2 stars in 2001 and Musgrove Hospital (Taunton) received a two star rating in 2002. The Department of Health grades Primary Care organisations with a 0-3 star system.
David Laws MP said,
“I am pleased to see that Yeovil District Hospital has been given a two star rating by the Department of Health in its latest evaluation exercise. This is certainly good news and I would like to congratulate all of the staff who have worked so hard to make sure that the hospital runs smoothly.
“Yeovil Hospital has strived to improve its service and this has led to, for example, shorter waiting times. Indeed, Yeovil District Hospital is now judged to be as good as Musgrove Park hospital in Taunton. However, I know that East Somerset NHS Trust will not be complacent and will continue to find ways to improve the care and treatment available to patients.
“ I also welcome the fact that the West Country ambulance service has been awarded a two-star rating. This is a solid performance but more work and investment is needed if response times are to meet the targets set.”
