Local MP welcomes yeovil’s new radio license
David Laws, Liberal Democrat MP for Yeovil, was today informed by the Radio Authority that Yeovil has at last been granted a license for a new radio station. The Radio authority will now start advertising for bids to run the new, Yeovil based, station.
David Laws said:
“ I was delighted to have been informed by the Radio Authority that Yeovil has won a license to set up a new radio station. This is great news and should provide Yeovil and the surrounding area with its own, much needed, voice. I am glad to see that the Radio Authority has now immediately started advertising for bidders to run the station.
“ I feel that it is important that the Radio Authority have a good idea about what kind of radio station the residents of Yeovil would like. I would therefore be grateful if residents of South Somerset could write to me saying what would like to see in Yeovil’s new station. I will then pass on your views to the Radio Authority to use.
“If the Radio Authority uses the comments and opinion of local residents to help pick the successful bidder I am sure that Yeovil will have a radio station to be proud of next year.”
