Yeovil MP congratulates yeovil fc on cup victory
Yeovil MP David Laws today congratulated the players, manager, directors and supporters of Yeovil FC on their 2-0 FA Trophy win. David will meet the team at 1.15pm in Yeovil today (13th May) at King George Street (Borough End).
David Laws MP said:
"I congratulate everyone at Yeovil Town FC on this brilliant victory - surely one of the highest peaks in the club's 107 year history.
"Gary Johnson and his players turned in a superb and committed performance at Villa Park yesterday and they thoroughly deserved their win.
"The match was very tense at first, and as I was sitting behind John Fry I could see just how wound up he was! But after the second goal, even John appeared to relax a little!
"The support from Yeovil fans at the match was brilliant - I travelled up to the match on Sunday morning, and the motorway just seemed to be one big sea of green scarves and Yeovil Town banners! Yeovil must have been something of a ghost town on Sunday, with more than 1 in 4 local residents at the big match!
"I am really delighted for the players, the manager, directors, fans, and all the people who work at the club. Sunday's victory must make worthwhile all the hard work on wet, windy, miserable days when things aren't going particularly well.
"I hope that this will now be such a boost for the club that it will help to give the momentum to secure promotion to the League next year.
"I will be putting down a special motion in Parliament this week, congratulating Yeovil FC on this success - and sending out a warning to other football clubs that Yeovil mean business!"
