Local MP acts over litter concerns

David Laws, the Lib Dem MP for Yeovil constituency, has today received a positive response from South Somerset District Council to his call to clear up litter in the Goldcroft area of Yeovil. The Council has told Mr. Laws that it agrees with his view that the level of cleanliness is below standard and it has promised to take action. David’s complaint followed representations from local residents.

David Laws MP said:

“I am glad that the District council has responded to my call to tidy the Goldcroft area of Yeovil. The level of litter in this area has steadily built up and is at times below the standard of cleanliness that local residents would expect.

“ I am pleased to see that the Council shares my concerns and will now change its cleaning programme to make sure that this litter is cleaned up. Litter is an important issue to many of the local residents so I hope that it is cleaned up speedily and monitored regularly. This problem was identified after a recent “Roving Surgery” which local Councillors and I undertook
