Mp comments on restriction of minor injury service at chard
Local Lib Dem MP David Laws, commenting on the Somerset Health Authority’s announcement of restricted opening times for the minor injuries service at Chard Community Hospital, said:
“I very much regret that the hours of availability of the minor injury service at Chard Hospital are to be cut back, and I hope that this will only be a temporary measure.
“ I naturally understand the Health Authority’s determination to ensure that the service is safe, and that no risks are taken with patient health.
“ I will be pressing the Government and the Primary Care Trust to ensure that funding is made available to support adequate staffing of Chard Hospital so that the minor injury service can return to opening 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as soon as possible. “
