John Dyke, County Councillor for Crewkerne and Misterton, has announced that he is calling a Roads Summit in March to discuss action to introduce a possible 20mph speed limit in Crewkerne Town Centre, and to consider a strategy to improve traffic flow and safety in Misterton.
John has secured the agreement of David Laws MP and County Council Leader Jill Shortland to attend. He also plans to invite the three local district councillors and the Chair of Misterton Parish Council.
 John said:
“I am determined to improve road safety in both Crewkerne and Misterton, and I would like to see a 20 mph speed limit in the centre of Crewkerne, including outside Ashlands School.
“I am also concerned about the volume of traffic through both Misterton and Crewkerne, and I want to consider what action can be taken to address this.
“I have received a lot of welcome feedback from local residents about their ideas for change, but now I think it is time for some action.
“In the past it has been difficult to secure the agreement of all the necessary groups.
“However, I am now planning to hold a Roads Summit in March, which local MP David Laws and County Leader Jill Shortland have both agreed to attend.
“I will be inviting all the local district councillors. The idea will be to hammer out a strategy to move things forward on the subjects on which there is already a substantial amount of agreement.”
