Local Liberal Democrat Councillor Jenny Kenton, with the support of colleague Councillor Jill Shortland, has been continuing her charity work by raising £585 for the Poppy Appeal with a Bingo night at the Guildhall in Chard last Friday, 14th November

All of the night’s prizes were donated by local Chard traders, and also with money from Councillor Jill Shortland’s Community Budget from Somerset County Council.

Jenny Kenton said:

“We all had a wonderful night and raising this amount for such a great charity like the Poppy Appeal is tremendous. The money raised will help all those who have and continue to serve our country.

“With British troops on active service around the world, in places like Iraq and Afghanistan, the work of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal is as important as ever.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to the local people in Chard who supported this worthy event.”
