Jane is currently Leader of the Opposition on Somerset County Council, fighting for a fairer deal for residents in the County and especially locally here in Yeovil.  She also chairs the Yeovil Opportunity Group and regularly attends community meetings. As a County Councillor she has been able to set up the Yeovil Shed - a workshop for local people to gain new skills and meet new people - dealt with residents issues and worked to improve road safety.

Having lived in the area for most of her life Jane cares passionately for the town and ensuring its continued success and prosperity.

Jane’s Three to Fix

1. Highways

Jane would continue to make sure there are improvements to the roads in our area - prioritising the Larkhill traffic lights,  campaigning for a right hand turning lane there and making sure road safety is improved at Oaklands School and Preston Grove Medical Centre.

2. Early Help

Jane feels passionately that too many of our children are failing to get the early help they need to thrive. Many more services need to be available to everyone. Young families should feel supported and confident to make sure their children get the best start in life.

3. Local NHS

As a Governor at Yeovil District Hospital and local Councillor Jane successfully helped to retain Stroke Services in Yeovil and during the current review of Maternity and Paediatric services, and the possibility of sharing with Dorchester, she wants Yeovil to maintains its share of these local services.
